Boatyard AC Solution

Tower / Portable Evaporator

Keep your boat's air conditioning running while hauled out in the boatyard.

Our custom miniature cooling tower system replaces raw seawater with a closed-loop evaporative circuit, allowing your existing marine AC to run at full capacity on the hard — protecting your interior from heat, humidity, and boatyard dust.

The Problem

What Happens When Your AC Stops on the Hard?

When a boat is hauled out, the raw water intake is above the waterline and the AC system cannot operate. Without climate control, the interior is exposed to extreme heat, humidity, and boatyard contaminants.

Heat Damage

Interior temperatures can exceed 140°F in direct sun. This warps wood, delaminates fiberglass, damages electronics, and degrades upholstery and fabrics.

Mold & Mildew

Trapped humidity breeds mold and mildew throughout the cabin, in lockers, behind panels, and inside soft furnishings — often requiring expensive remediation.

Dust & Contaminants

Boatyards generate fiberglass dust, paint particles, and sanding debris. Without positive air pressure, these contaminants infiltrate every opening.

Our Solution: Miniature Cooling Towers

Accumar Marine has developed a specialized portable evaporator system that lets your boat's AC run normally while out of the water.

Keep Your AC Running

Your boat's existing air conditioning system continues to operate normally while hauled out, maintaining comfortable interior temperatures.

Prevent Interior Damage

Heat and humidity cause mold, mildew, delamination, and electronics damage. Our system keeps the interior climate-controlled to prevent costly repairs.

Closed-Loop Water Circuit

Instead of pumping raw seawater, our system circulates water through a closed loop with custom miniature cooling towers — no sea strainer needed.

Energy Efficient

The evaporative cooling towers use minimal electricity while providing the cooling capacity your marine AC system needs to run at full performance.

Quick Setup & Removal

Our portable tower units connect directly to your boat's existing raw water plumbing. Setup takes under an hour with no permanent modifications.

Keep Dirt & Dust Out

Running your AC while in the yard keeps positive air pressure inside the boat, preventing boatyard dust, fiberglass particles, and debris from entering.

How It Works

The system is straightforward — we replace the raw seawater supply with a closed-loop evaporative cooling circuit.

1

Disconnect Raw Water Intake

We disconnect your boat's through-hull raw water intake that normally feeds seawater to the AC system.

2

Connect Closed-Loop Circuit

Our portable cooling tower connects to the raw water supply and return lines, creating a sealed recirculating water circuit.

3

Miniature Cooling Tower Operates

The custom evaporator tower cools the recirculating water through evaporation, just like an industrial cooling tower but sized for marine AC systems.

4

AC Runs Normally

Your boat's air conditioning system operates exactly as it would on the water — same thermostat, same controls, same comfort.

5

Removal When Launched

When your boat goes back in the water, we reconnect the raw water intake and remove the portable tower. No trace left behind.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long can the system run continuously?

The tower evaporator system can run 24/7 for as long as your boat is in the yard. Many customers keep it running for weeks or even months during extended haul-outs.

Does it work with any marine AC brand?

Yes. Our system is compatible with all major marine AC brands including Dometic, Webasto, Marine Air, Cruisair, Mermaid, and others. If your boat has a raw-water-cooled AC system, our tower will work with it.

How much water does the evaporator use?

The system uses very little water — typically a few gallons per day that evaporates through the cooling tower. We provide a small reservoir that only needs occasional topping off.

Can I run it on shore power?

Absolutely. The system runs on standard shore power, which is already available at most boatyards. The tower itself uses minimal additional power beyond what your AC already draws.

What sizes of boats does this work for?

We have tower units sized for boats from 30 feet up to super yachts with multiple AC zones. We can also run multiple towers in parallel for larger vessels.

Is this a rental or purchase?

We offer both rental and purchase options. Most customers rent the tower for the duration of their haul-out. Contact us for pricing based on your boat's AC capacity and expected duration.

Why not just use a portable AC unit?

Portable AC units are inefficient, noisy, and require ducting that doesn't seal well on boats. Our system uses your boat's existing, properly installed marine AC — which is designed for the space, already ducted, and far more effective.
