Yacht A/C Cleaning & Onboard Air Quality

Musty cabin when the A/C starts? Weak air from the vents? The air handler, drain pan and ductwork are places worth checking—not a diagnosis made from the smell alone. ACCUMAR inspects and cleans the parts of your marine A/C system that are easy to overlook.

Why yacht A/C can smell or lose airflow

Marine A/C removes moisture from humid cabin air. That moisture must drain away. Dust on a filter, evaporator coil or blower can restrict airflow; debris or a blocked condensate line can leave water in the pan. Damaged ducts, wet insulation and moisture elsewhere aboard can also contribute to the problem.

Wiping a grille only cleans the surface you can see. We inspect the air handler, drainage and ductwork to establish what needs cleaning and whether a separate repair is required.

Cleaning, inspection and follow-through

What we clean and check

Air handlers, coils and blowers

We open the accessible unit and clean the evaporator coil, blower wheel and housing, and cabinet interior using a method appropriate to the equipment and materials.

Drain pans and condensate lines

We remove accessible buildup, clear and flush drainage, and check that condensate has a path out of the unit. Treatment is used only where the equipment instructions and product labeling allow it.

Filters

We clean or replace filters according to the installed system. Any proposed filter change must suit the unit’s available space and airflow requirements; a denser filter is not automatically a better choice.

Grilles, vents and plenums

We remove and clean supply and return grilles and the plenum areas included in the agreed scope.

Full duct cleaning

We offer end-to-end cleaning of supply and return ducts, plenums, transition boxes and grilles. Before quoting, we check the route, access and condition of the installed ducts. Inaccessible or deteriorated sections are identified for a separate access or replacement decision. Air-handler cleaning is included in the agreed duct-cleaning scope so the connected system is addressed together.

Condenser descaling

Where inspection indicates it is needed, we descale the seawater side using a procedure compatible with the installed condenser. This is different from cleaning the cabin-air side.

Performance checks

After cleaning, we run the equipment and record the checks appropriate to its design and condition. These can include airflow observations, supply/return temperature difference and current draw. Refrigerant-side diagnosis is included when the installed system and symptoms warrant it; chilled-water air handlers require checks appropriate to their water circuit instead.

Humidity checks

We check cabin humidity and discuss the vessel’s use, A/C settings, ventilation and dehumidification options. Cleaning alone does not correct every source of moisture.

Odor tracing

ACCUMAR provides A/C and onboard odor tracing. We inspect the reported odor, document the observations and discuss the next step. Sources may include the air handler, drainage, ductwork, bilges, sanitation hoses or wet insulation. The source is not assumed before inspection, and tracing does not guarantee that cleaning alone will resolve it.

Proprietary cleaning solutions

We use proprietary descaling, drain-pan and coil-cleaning solutions. Product selection, dilution, application and rinsing are matched to the installed equipment, materials and applicable product instructions; we do not assume one solution suits every system.

Cleaning and specialist referral boundaries

We offer A/C system cleaning, not mold remediation or laboratory mold/air-quality testing. If we observe suspected mold growth or contamination outside the agreed cleaning scope, we document the visible condition and refer you to an appropriately licensed mold professional. Visual or camera inspection does not identify mold species, establish exposure risk or certify that a cabin is mold-free.

Air purifiers: supply and installation

ACCUMAR supplies and installs Dometic UV, Cruisair UV and AIRLOCK purification options, subject to the selected product’s compatibility with your installed equipment.

Dometic UV

Compatible UV-based purifier kits, with the mounting location and protective requirements specified by the kit manufacturer.

Related equipment service

Cruisair UV

UV options selected for the particular Cruisair air handler and supported kit—not a universal fit for every Cruisair unit.

Related equipment service

AIRLOCK

A bipolar-ionization option installed in the appropriate A/C airflow path according to the selected model’s instructions.

We check the available mounting space, power supply, wiring and service access before recommending equipment. We provide the manufacturer’s documentation and check A/C operation after installation. UV lamp replacement and other servicing follow the selected model’s instructions; not every purifier has the same consumables or maintenance schedule.

A purifier is an addition to the system, not a substitute for fixing a leak, clearing drainage or removing the source of an odor. We do not promise germ, virus, allergy or health outcomes. Equipment and installation are quoted after inspection.

How the service visit works

  1. 01

    Inspect

We review the reported symptoms, photograph accessible components and check how the system is operating. Camera inspection is used where appropriate and accessible; this is not laboratory sampling.

  2. 02

    Quote

You receive a written quote identifying the units, ducts, cleaning, checks and any separate repairs included in the work.

  3. 03

    Clean

We protect the work area, clean the approved components and reassemble the system. Any inaccessible or damaged section is documented rather than described as cleaned.

  4. 04

    Check and report

We run the system, record the applicable checks and provide before/after photographs and a summary of the work and any remaining findings.

Pricing and scheduling

A/C cleaning and air-quality work
Quoted after inspection.
Labor
Starting at $160/hr, with a one-hour minimum.
Ongoing maintenance
A/C Maintenance Program: $140 per visit. Deep cleaning, duct cleaning and purifier installation are separately scoped; do not assume they are included in a maintenance visit.

Documented work, not assumed results

The agreed cleaning visit includes before/after photographs and a work summary. Cleaning-specific project photographs and measured results will be added here when supplied by Roland; unrelated equipment photographs are not presented as cleaning results.
