Complete Electrical Refit

DC RewireLithiumSolar
Completed Project

Full DC System Redesign with Lithium Conversion

Owner wanted to eliminate generator dependency at anchor. We designed a complete DC system overhaul: replaced the aging AGM bank with 600Ah LiFePO4, added 800W solar with MPPT controllers, redesigned the DC distribution panel with proper fusing per ABYC E-11, and integrated a 3,000W inverter/charger. The boat now runs AC, refrigeration, and electronics for 48+ hours at anchor without a generator.

Completed Project

Navigation & Electrical Systems for Caribbean Crossing

Owners were preparing for their first offshore passage from Fort Myers to the Bahamas and beyond. We designed a redundant navigation system with dual chartplotters, AIS transceiver, SSB/HF radio, and satellite communication. Rebuilt the NMEA 2000 backbone, added a dedicated electronics panel with proper circuit protection, and installed a battery monitoring system so they could track consumption underway. Remote consultation followed up during their first 30 days of cruising.

Completed Project

Shore Power & HVAC Load Balancing for Multi-Zone Cooling

This yacht had chronic breaker trips when running AC at the dock. The original wiring had 4 marine AC units on a single 50A shore power leg with no load management. We redesigned the AC distribution with proper load balancing across both legs of 50A service, added soft-start modules to each compressor to reduce inrush current, and installed a shore power management system that sequences compressor starts. The owner went from constant breaker trips to running all 4 zones simultaneously without issues.

Remote Battery Bank Design for DIY Owner in Chesapeake Bay

Owner in Maryland wanted to upgrade from a failing AGM house bank to lithium but couldn't find a qualified marine electrician locally. Through a series of video consultations, we assessed his current system via photos and documentation, designed a drop-in 400Ah LiFePO4 bank with proper BMS, verified his existing chargers were compatible, and provided detailed wiring diagrams with step-by-step installation notes. The owner completed the installation himself over a weekend and has been cruising the Chesapeake trouble-free since.

Consultation FAQ

What is a marine electrical consultation?
A marine electrical consultation is a one-on-one session with our master marine technician to discuss your vessel's electrical needs. Whether you're planning a retrofit, troubleshooting a problem, designing a new system, or converting to lithium batteries, we provide expert guidance tailored to your specific boat and goals. Consultations can be done on-board or remotely via video call.
How much does a consultation cost?
Our standard rate is $160/hour. A typical initial consultation runs 1-2 hours. For complex design projects (complete rewires, new builds, major retrofits), we provide a project-scoped estimate after the initial consultation. Remote consultations are available at the same rate.
Can you do remote consultations for boats outside Southwest Florida?
Yes. We offer remote video consultations for boat owners anywhere. You'll need to send us photos and documentation of your current system. We can review your setup, provide recommendations, create wiring diagrams, and guide you or your local technician through the work. Many of our clients are cruisers planning systems before heading offshore.
What kind of design work do you provide?
We create custom electrical system designs including AC and DC distribution diagrams, battery bank sizing and configuration, solar array layouts, charging system integration plans, panel layouts, and wire run specifications. All designs follow ABYC standards and are tailored to your specific vessel, budget, and cruising plans.
I'm planning a lithium battery conversion. Can you help?
Absolutely. Lithium conversions are one of our specialties. We'll assess your current system, size the new battery bank, specify the right BMS, verify charger compatibility (alternator, solar, shore), design the installation layout, and ensure everything meets ABYC E-13 standards for lithium installations. Getting this right the first time saves thousands in potential problems.
Do you provide wiring diagrams I can use for DIY installation?
Yes. After a design consultation, we can provide detailed wiring diagrams, component specifications, and installation notes that you or a qualified technician can follow. Our diagrams include wire gauges, fuse ratings, connection details, and routing recommendations. We're also available for follow-up questions during your installation.
